If you have found my site it is likely that you are seeking some kind of change in the way you feel and live your life. Perhaps you are overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, struggling at work or in your relationships. Maybe you are searching for a life of renewed purpose, depth, and sense of meaning. Perhaps the feeling of happiness or contentment simply eludes you. Whatever your issue, finding a way to live your life with a deeper awareness will help you.
My role is to listen. I accept you as you are in order to try and understand what is going on. I will provide you with a confidential space where you will feel valued and safe.
I am interested in using the imagination to explore issues, as working creatively can be very effective in helping us to bypass our defences and look at where healing needs to happen.
Essentially I will work with you wherever you are, and with whatever you bring, techniques are only that, what really elicits change is the relationship between therapist and client.
Practising mindfulness improves awareness of ourselves and the world we live in and somehow this simple, thoughtful practice, can enable us to live a more satisfying life. I have been practising mindfulness for many years and have integrated it into my work as a therapist. I also teach mindfulness practice to individuals and small groups.
I trained as an integrative arts psychotherapist and I offer both long and short term therapy. I have twelve years experience as a psychotherapist, working with issues such as anxiety, low self esteem, trauma, depression and loss. I am commitment to helping people.
I gained a Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and have worked in several counselling services as well as in private practice. For the last few years I have been working with children in a school setting and this together with my adult work has made me keenly aware of the many challenges present in our society right now and how this is impacting on mental health.
I have extensive experience of working with children and while I am not currently set up to work with young children (KS!) I can offer support to older children. Sometimes it can be helpful for parents to have time to reflect and I have found that working with children’s main carers can significantly impact the behaviour/well being of a child.
I am also a qualified supervisor.
As well as private practice I work for Place2Be, delivering training in professional qualifications for counselling children.
I am fully insured to practice and am guided by the professional ethics of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
Therapy works because it enables two people to come together in a space that allows for thinking and growth. It is important to find a therapist you feel you can work with. I offer the first session free of charge, so we can meet and discuss what might be troubling you and decide whether we would like to work together. We then agree to meet once a week at a mutually agreed day and time. Each session would last for 50 minutes. I can offer sessions in Loughton or West London.
